Our squad is in a mess
We have two big problems quality and quantity
Goal Keepers
I think we are pretty good, I thought Leno had an excellent first season so it makes sense that he is number 1 now and it is a no brainer that Martinez becomes the number 2. personally I would have preferred a more experienced goalkeeper as the backup but rather than spending transfer funds and wage budget I would opt to use Martinez Instead.
I am going to split defenders into separate categories as this probably needs most attention
Right Backs
In part I do not know why we are getting more linked with left backs rather than right backs
We have only Bellerin and... Jenkinson.... plus maybe Niles, Chambers and god forheaven sakes Mustafi....
For me Niles is not a right back, Chambers I would rather have him as a cb or cdm.
Let's not even talk about Jenkinson or Mustafi....
I think Bellerin is good but he needs backup and a decent one at that...
Center Backs
Probably our biggest request as fans wanting a center back but actually we have 7 (5 + 2) players who can play as cb. But of course the problem is quality and I believe this has created a huge problem for us in recruiting a new one.
Sokratis, Koscielny, Holding, Mustafi, Mavropanos (also Monreal and Chambers)
Other than Holding there is not anyone else I would keep
I really Sokratis but I feel he only has another year or two at top level.
I would also actually keep Chambers as I believe he can fill in as a cb, rb or even a cdm, unless if we get a good offer for them then I would sell him.
I would send Mavropanos on loan and sell the rest especially Mustafi but who would actually want him?
We have only really been linked with Saliba who does seem to be a good player with lots of potential but we wont even be getting him this season as etiene wants him back on loan.
Then why this does not die? Probably because he would be a Koscielny replacement as he is down to his last year.
Left Backs
We have been heavily linked with Tierney in my opinion if we get him I do really see Kolasinac leaving. We have to remember even though he was on a free but we ending up giving him a 100,000+ a week wage and in which now looks bad. Even if we triple Tierney's current wage it would still be only 75,000 a week so if we able to lower the wage bill and get a few mil in the bank then why not?
But the sticking point seems to be Celtic wanting 25m and all upfront where the offer for Kolasinac is less than that so it kinda kills the point of doing this.
Midfielders
Big problem Mkhi and Ozil are on big wages 180,000 and 350,000
and with giving Ozil that kind of wage it has killed any resell value that he may have had.
I only see him going either on a loan or a free where we do not pay anything but we also do not gain anything. Similair with Mkhi I see little resell value maybe 5-10m tops.
Biggest thing would be clearly a good chuck if the wage bill.
Elneny, he is not arsenal quality as simple as that and we have youngsters who can do a better job.
Again do not see us gaining much from him but he is a player that we really do not need as we are loaded in that area
Xhaka, he is like Mustafi but he midfield always a mistake in him.
Guendouzi I just do not get the hype he is like a small upgrade on Elneny and with more potential.
Sell: Elneny, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Xhaka
Loan: Guendouzi
Keep: Torreira, Niles
Wingers
.... Where are our wingers seriously looking on the first team on the site, there is no wingers listed under midfielders.... wtf?!? I believed we struggled many times with a lack of width last season and we teams caught on to this we really struggled and ended up loosing the race for fourth
Closet to a winger would be Iwobi but even he prefers to be a cam and in youth setup he was a cam rather
We need them despartly as well Zaha? honestly arsenal shouldve known crystal palace would never accept anything near 40m as they sold their rb for 50m. plus I think we would need at least two
Forwards
Aubameyang and Lacazette are great but I would love to get a plan B someone like Giroud an aerial threat just to change the game completely. My other concern is Aubameyang is getting on and down to his last 2 years so a decision has to be made there
Youth I would promote to First Team
Nelson, Willock
Loan: Rowe, Nketiah
